The holiday, in its natural habitat

The second swim
is the one that does it.

The first gets you into the sea. The second happens after lunch, when the towels have warmed through and nobody is quite sure where they left their shoes. You walk back to the water together. This time, you are properly here.

A good Ibiza beach day has very little to prove. Something delicious arrives at the table. There is a patch of shade, a song you want to ask about, a friend telling a story with a fork still in their hand. You look across the bay and wonder why you thought you needed three different plans.

Of course, the island can do theatre. A beautiful entrance. A DJ who changes the afternoon. A table you have been thinking about since February. We love some of those places, too.

But we also love a small wooden counter and a cold drink after a swim. The distinction is in the feeling. Does the place have a reason to be here? Does the food make you pay attention? Would we bring our own people?

These are the beach places Ocho loves, followed by a wider coastal address book and the little shacks that deserve their own journey. Go generously. Stay curious. You can always do another beach tomorrow.

One island.
A hundred ways to lose an afternoon.

The Ocho selection

Places we love.
Days we’d keep.

A personal selection, not a league table. Some days call for a beautiful lunch. Others want a bassline, a little northern light or a cove that makes the whole group go quiet.

El Chiringuito / A reason to stay for lunch.

The Ocho choice

The long lunch

Lunch is the plan.

For a polished seafood lunch with the beach still under your feet.

Es Cavallet supplies the long sweep of bright sand; El Chiringuito supplies the shade and a beautifully laid place to sit. That pairing is the appeal: linen, glassware and a proper lunch, with the beach just beyond.

Red-prawn carpaccio brings lime and herbs to the start; sea bass baked in salt gives the meal something generous to gather around. There is a delicious incongruity in eating this well with sand still between your toes. Nobody needs to dress that feeling up further.

The Ocho choice

Lunch with a soundtrack

The day changes clothes.

For lunch that leaves room for a change of gear.

Palms, communal tables and the sea make Beachouse an inviting way into Bossa. Food belongs at the centre of the day here, even when you have chosen a date with music in mind.

Then a familiar track catches somebody halfway through a sentence. A chair turns; a shoulder starts keeping time. There is something wonderfully contagious about seeing your usually composed friends enjoy themselves with so little calculation. Pick the right programme and leave space for that change of mood.

The Ocho choice

A different appetite

A sharper appetite for the beach.

For a beach lunch with Peruvian flavour at its centre.

Yellow chilli, citrus, sweet potato and the bite of choclo corn: COYA’s 2026 sea-bream ceviche captures the appeal of its Peruvian beach cooking. Warm from the sand, you want something with this much freshness and contrast.

At BLESS Ibiza The Site, this is our choice for friends who read the menu with as much interest as they inspect the view. Order in different directions and trade tastes. The most useful question here is often the small, hopeful one: “Can I try that?”

Explore COYA ↗
Before you go

Choose COYA Beach, the restaurant or Pisco Bar when enquiring. They have different seasonal hours and arrangements. A beach booking does not imply access to the hotel pools.

A coastal appetite

Keep the afternoon.

The best beach tables leave room for curiosity. Something bright, something from the grill, one more taste before the plate goes back. Order what you love—and a little of what you don’t know yet.

Sa Trinxa

Some places make you feel beautifully underdressed for your ordinary life.

Sa Trinxa’s green walkway leading into the clear water at Ses Salines
Sa Trinxa / You know the way in.

The Ocho choice

Salt & Balearic soul

A little salt in the soul.

The green walkway, the music, the people. An unmistakable piece of Ibiza.

There is the green walkway. Then the water. Behind you, somebody is asking what the track is. Sa Trinxa needs very little introduction to people who have fallen for this side of Ibiza.

Since 1980, the draw has been this meeting of beach, food and music. Think sardines after a swim, borrowed sunglasses, hair drying badly. For once, looking slightly dishevelled means the day is going well. Among all the ways Ibiza knows how to impress, this easy, salty version has a particularly strong hold on us.

Blue Marlin

The Ocho choice

A day with a pulse

Give the afternoon a pulse.

For friends who want the music-led, social side of Cala Jondal.

Cala Jondal gives Blue Marlin its coastal setting; the music programme gives the day its purpose. This is a favourite for a group that actively wants the social scene, the dressing up and the possibility of dancing.

Enjoy the entrance. Then let the music loosen whatever effort went into it. The good part is when the careful outfit starts moving and the most reserved member of the group is suddenly enjoying the attention. A chosen occasion can become a surprisingly unguarded kind of fun.

El Silencio / Cala Molí. Venue press photography.
White daybeds, thatched parasols and palms at El Silencio’s pool
El Silencio / A separate poolside chapter to enquire about.

The Ocho choice

The design-minded detour

A different texture to the coast.

A small cove with a strong point of view.

At El Silencio, Cala Molí’s pebbles and rock give the setting a roughness that suits the weathered textures of the venue. Behind the shore, the pool creates another focal point. There is plenty here for an eye that enjoys shape, material and the way a space fits its landscape.

Choose it for the friend who notices the building before reading the menu. Spend a little of the day looking around together: the edge of the cove, the contrast between pool and sea, the details that make this address feel like itself. A change of surroundings can be a surprisingly good conversation starter.

Explore El Silencio ↗

Confirm the season’s spaces, menu and event dates directly. Cala Molí’s pebbles and rocks call for a considered swim, not a promise of easy sandy entry.

Amante / A closer look at the table.

The Ocho choice

The occasion table

Let the view interrupt.

Sol d’en Serra, and the view that interrupts the conversation.

Amante’s cliffside setting above Sol d’en Serra makes the arrival memorable. The bay opens below you on a scale a photograph can struggle to explain. For a celebration, or simply a meal with someone you have missed, it gives the occasion a remarkable beginning.

Then the smaller things return: choosing what to eat, a strand of hair caught by the breeze, a joke that belongs only to the two of you. You may photograph the whole bay. What makes you smile later could be something that never appeared in the picture.

Explore Amante ↗

This is an east-coast setting, not a guaranteed sunset-into-the-sea table. Book the sitting you want; yoga, cinema and other programmes have their own dates.

Cala Gracioneta / The other reason to come.

The Ocho choice

A cove for lunch

A cove for keeping close.

For Mediterranean cooking and the intimacy of a small cove.

Cala Gracioneta is close and contained: terraces, a small beach, a pocket of blue. The appeal is being near the water rather than surveying a grand stretch of coast. It gives lunch a lovely sense of place.

The menu has its own appetite for contrast: sea bass with rosemary and caramelised lime, or sobrasada with cheese and honey. These are flavours worth paying attention to. Between bites, the cove keeps finding its way back into the conversation.

Elements / Benirràs. Stay for the changing light.

The Ocho choice

The northern finish

Give the evening to the bay.

For a northern outing that works for different appetites.

Benirràs gives Elements a reason to become the destination, rather than a stop on the way somewhere else. Go north for the bay, the changing light and a meal with the shore in view.

Pizza can share the occasion with seafood; everyone need not want an elaborate lunch to enjoy being here together. That ease suits the place. Stay to watch the light if the day allows, then leave the drive home to somebody who is happy to take it. A northern outing deserves a comfortable ending.

Explore Elements ↗
Before you go

Arrange the journey back and check current road and parking arrangements. Come for the bay and the confirmed venue programme; don’t build the trip around an assumed Sunday drumming event.

The little places

A wooden counter.
A very good day.

Sometimes you want the place that seems to have grown out of the beach. A short menu. A handful of tables. The person beside you brushing sand from their feet before lunch. These stops belong in the story, too.

People sitting beside the small wooden Kiosko Siesta, with the sea behind
Kiosko Siesta / Es Caló de s’Alga. Ibiza Family Moments.

Small places, large memories

Nothing much
needs adding.

A swim makes you hungry in a particularly convincing way. You come back with salt on your shoulders, order something simple and sit down in the shade. The first cold drink arrives. Somebody has found a table with a view through the trees.

These are the lunches that can catch you off guard. No grand arrival, no complicated reason for being there. Just good company, the coast and a little place doing its own thing.

Small doesn’t always mean cheap, and rustic doesn’t mean a table will be waiting. Check the menu and the day’s arrangements. Then enjoy how little else the afternoon needs.

Cala Xuclar · North

Xiringuito Xuclar

A small cove, pine shade, fishing huts and a lunch worth making an arrangement for. Come for the scale of the place: sea close by, limited tables, a coast that invites you to pay attention.

Reserve through the venue and allow for the rocky shore. This is a small destination, not a dependable walk-in solution for a large group.

The beach chiringuito keeps things modest: drinks, snacks and the water in front of you. A good stop when the view and the company are doing most of the work.

The hostal’s main restaurant is a separate proposition. Choose that if you want its fuller meal; don’t arrive at the little kiosk expecting the same menu.

Also known as Chiringuito de María: shared benches by the rocks and grilled fish with salad and potatoes. A little coastal institution with the meal kept reassuringly straightforward.

The little wooden kiosk pictured above sits at Es Caló de s’Alga, near Santa Eulària. Choose it for the simple pleasure of a drink and a beachside pause. Check the seasonal hours and what is being served on the day. Sometimes the least elaborate seat on the island has an excellent view.

Cala Escondida.
A new chapter.

The much-loved team moved in summer 2026 from Racó d’en Xic, beside Cala Comte, to the far end of Playa d’en Bossa, near Torre de sa Sal Rossa. Think casual bites, cocktails and occasional local live music. Go to the new address; plenty of old beach guides still point west.

The venue works by arrival, without reservations. Check its current location and the council’s event listing before setting off.

A coastal table,
rather than a shack.

Restaurante Sa Caleta belongs on the food list for fish, rice and café Caleta. Plan the restaurant, however, not a swim beneath the cliffs: Es Bol Nou beach remains closed because of rockfall concerns. Respect the closure and access signs.

An expanding, checked address book of beachclubs, chiringuitos, coastal restaurants and beaches. It is not a claim that every island venue is listed, nor live availability. A small chiringuito can serve an expensive fish lunch; a beachclub can have several separately priced experiences. Check the menu and the booking you want.

A little thought before the towel

The art of
a better beach day.

Choose the thing you actually want to do. Make the few arrangements that matter. Then give the afternoon a chance to surprise you.

01

Book the
right experience.

A restaurant table, a sunbed, a pool pass and event admission can be four separate things. Agree the headcount, any deposit or minimum spend, and what your booking includes.

02

Follow the coast,
not the checklist.

Stay on one side of the island for the day. Choose the beach around conditions and your group. A small rocky cove and a wide sandy bay offer very different afternoons.

03

Leave something
for tomorrow.

One proper reservation is usually enough. A beach picnic is a fine alternative to a restaurant. Carry water, bring shade where needed and take every scrap home.

04

Make the return
someone’s job.

Arrange a driver or transfer for the day you want drinks and music. Save the pickup point. Small coves and busy closing times are poor places to begin improvising the ride home.

For your dates. This is a coastal guide, not a live opening calendar. Many venues close for winter and reopen on different spring dates. Check the venue’s own programme before reserving; future line-ups, menus and prices are not yet promises. Follow current beach access signs and sea conditions.
